Staunton Pride Goes Virtual!

After careful consideration and deliberation with health and city officials, the Staunton Pride committee has made the difficult decision to transition our in-person celebration of Staunton Pride 2020, scheduled for July 24-26 in Gypsy Hill Park to a virtual pride celebration over the next two months with a large virtual finale the weekend of July 24-26. The committee is currently hard at work to transition our Pride celebration into a virtual experience to include programming and content over multiple online formats including livestreams, podcasts, blog posts, other online content, and so much more!

We will begin announcing our incredible line up of programming beginning the first week of June on the Staunton Pride website www.stauntonpride.org.

This time is challenging for all of us, especially those who are LGBTQ+ who lack internet connectivity, family support or the ability to connect to supportive networks. With this in mind, the Staunton Pride Committee has identified four major themes to focus on for the next 8 weeks that include: sexual health, LGBTQ+ history, youth and families/LGBTQ+ 101, and Queer Voices from the community. The content will be shared on our website, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.

Our virtual Staunton Pride celebration will culminate with a livestream event and fundraiser on Saturday, July 25. Additional details will be announced on the Staunton Pride website.

The Staunton Pride planning committee will be in touch with vendors who have already signed up and are still accepting vendors as we transition pride to a virtual platform.

If you, a friend or family member is in need of speaking to someone during this time, please reach out to the Shenandoah LGBTQ Center. The Center has continued to support the entire community through virtual connectivity and social distancing approved activities that keep our community members safe.
