Community Spotlight - Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum

Pride Festivals provide a vital point of connection between the local LGBTQIA+ community and local organizations and businesses. In keeping that spirit alive, our Community Spotlight feature will provide a deeper look at these organizations and the important work they do in our communities.

These organizations will be a part of our 2022 Pride festivities as well-- so be sure to learn more and plan to see them at our Pride festival next year!

Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum is the official Presidential Library for Woodrow Wilson and an educational institution dedicated to the study of both his life and the time in which he lived - from pre-Civil War to post World War I.

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum offers a variety of experiences for all visitors including guided tours through the museum and President Wilson's birthplace, virtual educational programs, library and research center, as well as historic gardens (available for rental!).

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum offered the following statement in support of Staunton Pride and the Shenandoah LGBTQ Center:

"The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library proudly supports the mission of the Shenandoah LGBTQ Center and shares in its commitment to promoting equality and inclusivity through advocacy, education, and programming within local and global communities. Both organizations strive to open dialogues regarding the past and present in an effort to create a better, more transparent, future.

Other like-minded Values within the WWPL organization include:

  • We strive to show that Wilson and his actions during his presidency are relevant today and can provide solutions to problems facing our country and the wider global community.

  • We serve our visitors and wider community as we wish to be served- with dignity, respect and courtesy.

  • We support those studying Wilson, provide an inclusive, supportive and productive research community and help them share their knowledge widely.

  • We aspire to be an active, collaborative partner with local, national and global communities."
