pride | resilience | joy
To our Staunton Pride community and supporters:
The Staunton Pride leadership have made the extremely difficult but necessary decision to cancel our Staunton Pride event planned for October 2nd in Gypsy Hill Park. We have made this decision after seeing the alarming surge in cases of COVID-19 in our local community and broader Virginia area, and seeking guidance from our local health officials. According to data provided by the Virginia Department of Health, transmission levels remain high for our localities and prevalence rates of COVID-19 are projected to continue rising into September.
Our community’s health and safety are of paramount importance, and the leadership team feel strongly in protecting our most vulnerable amongst our population – including those immunocompromised and children that cannot be vaccinated yet. We encourage our community to do their part in mitigating the spread of this virus.
We are saddened to not have the opportunity to hold our event this October, but are grateful for the sponsors, vendors and local community members who have brought so much enthusiasm and energy to our planning this year. Staunton Pride is, and will always be committed to providing opportunities for our community to gather and celebrate. We’ll continue to have virtual and safe small-scale events throughout the rest of the year to keep the spirit of Pride alive, and to keep us all connected. Please stay tuned as we announce those events.
Thank you again for your support. It is so deeply appreciated. Please stay well and healthy!
